Eagles sink talons in Titans, 48-8
The Yarbrough-Keyes Titans traveled to Goodwell on Friday night, and received a thumping for their trouble.
The feisty Titans cleaned the Goodwell Eagles clocks on most of the stats, but the Eagles sent the Titans home with their second loss of the season 48-6.
The Titans racked up 11 first downs compared to the Eagles 5.
They rushed 62 times for 318 yards, compared to 36 carries for 249 yards.
The Titans, had four pass attempts, two interceptions and no receptions.
Goodwell was three of seven with no interceptions
Once again it was the opponents aerial attack, and the Titans lack of one which seemed to make the difference.
The Titans had no yardage through the air, and the Eagles had 75 to take home the total offense yardage of 324 compared to 318 for the Titans.
The first score of the game was an Eagle interception of a Grazier pass which went for 90 yards, Adrian Huerra added two to his six, it was 8-0, Eagles.
Huerrea and the Eagles came right back with a 60 yard run, the conversion was no good, 14-0.
The quarter's third TD came on an 18- yard heave from Grant to Keith, the conversion was no good, it was 20-0 when the teams swapped end zones.
In the second quarter, Huerra had two runs of 10 and six yards and Derrick had one conversion while Grant's failed, it was 34-0 at the half.
The Titans contained the Eagles in the third, holding them to one TD on a 33-yard pass from Grant to Huerra, the kick was good, it was 42-zip when the fourth quarter came up.
Collins saved the Titans from a goose egg with a 67 yard sprint and added two, it was 42-8.
But the Eagles QB, Grant called his own number and scampered 40 yards for the final TD, the conversion attempt failed, and the whistle blew at 48-6.
