County could qualify for scenic byway

A cross section of Cimarron county residents met at the Heritage Center on Tuesday and learned how the county might attract more tourist dollars.

Richard Cox of the USDA explained that the county could easily qualify as a national scenic byway.

By using the county-wide connection to the Santa Fe Trail , the byway could begin north of Keyes at the trail crossing and go west to Kenton. A national listing as a scenic byway would then attract more tourists to the area.
