Good News Book Store sells
Peggy Sparkman has sold the Good News Books and Flowers on East Main St., Boise City.
“Matt and Tammy Roberts have become the new proprietors,” Sparkman said.
“Matt is the son of Monty Joe and Vickie and the late Marion Roberts,” she explained.
“Tammy is the daughter of Frank and Linda Ledford, of Elkhart, Kan..,” she added.
The Roberts have four children, Baleigh, Johnna, Samantha and Christian.
According to Sparkman, the Roberts plan is to be full-time retail merchants, who plan to keep several things on the status quo, but to make changes as well.
“With a love for Cimarron County and it's people, Matt and Tammy have chosen to serve the Lord here; and we welcome them with our best wishes,” Sparkman said.
“On behalf of my family and myself, I extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to many wonderful patrons whom we were privileged to serve for almost 16 years,” Sparkman said.
“To the talented, friendly, devoted people who have worked at the store and the wonderful friends who sacrificed many times “just because” we needed your help, we give our thanks, while keeping and cherishing many fond yet sometimes painful memories.”
“To our heavenly Father, Lord and Savior, Holy Spirit, we give our deepest thanks. He was and is our inspiration, joy, strength, rest, peace, and life and the one to whom we trust the future. May his grace and peace be with each of you,” Sparkman concluded.
Matt Roberts, one-half of the new ownership team, had been a care-giver for the past ten years.
“We didn't want to move; and there was nothing comparable in salary,” Tammy shrugged. “And he has a talent for arranging flowers and an interest in design. “
“I'm the booky one,” she smiled. “I'm a nurse, I work for the hospital.'
She looked around the shop and gave a wave, “I think it'll be good.”
“We have new crystal, silver vases, baskets and bowls, a lot of good wedding gifts. You can come here and buy some really pretty keepsake wedding gifts.”
“We have a new Christian based card line too,” Roberts added.
“We've also reduced a lot of prices on the silk arrangements,” she said.
“We plan to order a more affordable line of all-occasion gifts and we'll have a wider choice of Bibles,” Roberts explained.
