Gonzalez trial set for the week of Oct. 18 in Ft. Smith
According to Laura Johnson, a spokesperson for the Sebastian county District Attorney in Ft. Smith, Ark. a trial has been set for the week of Oct. 18, for Daniel Gonzalez.
Gonzalez is charged in the Sept. 10, 2003 murder of Shon Pilkington, 35, a former Boise resident. Pilkington had been beaten to death.
Gonzalez, who was 20 at the time of the murder, allegedly killed Pilkington in his Ft. Smith residence.
Gonzalez, was reportedly an acquaintance of Pilkington, and had arranged to meet him prior to the murder.
The discovery of Pilkington's body was made during a welfare check requested by his friends and fellow employees at Cox communications.
Although Gonzalez was found in possession of Pilkington's automobile, credit cards, and a ring, Ft. Smith prosecutor Steven Tabor said on Monday that a motive had yet to be discovered for the murder.
Tabor said that if, Gonzalez should be found guilty of the murder, he could face a sentence up to life in prison.
Pilkington was a 1986 graduate of Boise City High School.
