Rotarians says “Thanks”
As committe chairman of the Tom Milbern Benefit Dinner, The Boise City Rotary Club, and myself would personally like to thank everyone who helped make this benefit dinner a huge success, over $3,200 was raised in just over two hours.
In general, I thank all the ladies from all the churches who made desserts, rolls, and helped out in the kitchen. The names are too many to list individually: So, to the ladies of the Church of Christ, the Methodist Church, the Baptist Church, the Lutheran Church, the Pentecostal Holiness Church, the Boise City Christian Church (and Putt Tapp and Lee Pafford), we could not have made this work without all of you. You each brought some great homemade rolls and yummy desserts and helped out in the kitchen. Thank you is not enough. In particular, I would like to say thanks to all the Rotarians who pitched in, especially Terri Weaver and Helen Barnes who both put in a lot of time on this. Thanks to Lance and Jana Fowler who came out and helped the night before getting ready and also at the dinner. Lance and Jana are special to Rotary, and help us out just about everytime we have a community service project. Jimmy Weaver and Alberta Shannon put in a lot of time and effort, special thanks go to them. Thanks to Judy Gabriel who furnished the lovely centerpieces. Thanks to Dan Faulkner and Boise City Schools for letting us use the cafeteria.
I also want to thank Tom and Sandy Milbern for all the years of ministry and service to Boise City. You are both special folks who matter to our community. Tom, we pray for your health to improve.
And of course, I send out my heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to the dinner Sunday and opened up your billfolds and purses and donated. It never ceases to amaze me how the people of Boise City and Cimarron County seem to always come together when there is a need. About the time I think everyone has given the limit, you all come through and help out just a little bit more. One of my favorite sayings is: “You are lucky if God made you smart enough to live in a small town.” And I feel lucky that God led me to Boise City. Thank you everyone....
