Local Students To Receive State FFA Degree
Tyler Avent,
Heather Dawn Axtell, Logan Brakhage, Brittni Crane and
Jillian Faye Spake of the Boise City FFA Chapter, have been nominated to
receive the prestigious State FFA Degree, the highest degree of active
membership awarded by the Oklahoma FFA Association.
The honor is bestowed upon high
school senior FFA members who have demonstrated outstanding supervised
agricultural experience programs and leadership activities. Only 686 of the
more than 24,000 Oklahoma FFA members have advanced through the Discovery, Greenhand and Chapter Degrees to earn the state honor.

during the 81st State FFA Convention held at the

Logan Brakhage
of the Boise City FFA chapter has been named the Northwest District Star Farmer
of the Oklahoma FFA Association and will compete as a finalist for the Stars Over Oklahoma awards to be presented at the upcoming 81st
State FFA Convention, April 24-25.
Honorary State FFA Degree Bestowed On Area Resident
Mr. Steve Kraich,
of Goodwell, Okla., the OSU Extension Agent - Texas Co.has
been nominated to receive the Honorary State FFA Degree, Oklahoma FFA’s highest award to recognize outstanding adult support.

award 80 Honorary State FFA Degrees to supporters during the evening general
session of the 81st State FFA Convention at the

honorary award presented by the FFA and recognizes those who greatly contribute
to the advancement of agricultural education and provide outstanding service to
their local, county or state levels.

The state FFA convention is the culmination of
a year’s activities for FFA members.
It is an opportunity for individual
awards and recognition, delegate business, officer elections and a celebration
of chapter accomplishments. The Oklahoma FFA Foundation has raised
$375,000 this year from sponsors who will provide cash awards, scholarships,
plaques and honor banquets to award winners and degree recipients. Title
sponsors of the convention are Blue & Gold Sausage Company, Chesapeake
Energy Corporation and the Oklahoma Ford Dealers.
The state FFA officers, a team of
eight student leaders, plan the convention and conduct the official
ceremonies.
