Museum releases final list for Civil and Spanish-American War veterans
This is the first final list published by the Cimarron Heritage Center Museum in an effort to find all accurate names for the Cimarron County Veterans Memorial, which will be displayed south of the French Building at the museum. This week the Civil War and Spanish-American Wars veterans will be listed. Please check for accuracy and spelling. We are asking friends, families and the public to donate to help pay for the names to be engraved at a cost of $15.00 per name. Two Civil War veterans names have been paid.
Civil War veterans are: Allen, James; Anderson, J W; Briggs, Theodore; Bruner, M B; Bruner, T N; Buck, Robt J; Burnett, John J; Clifton, Austin; Cochran, Wm O; Collins, David D; Davis, John T; Dixon, Harold E; Ellsworth, Duncan; Fansher, John W; Fellows, Geo W; Fletcher, Pat; McGowan, Henry; Milligan, Benjamin F; Meyers, Francis H; Poulk, John J; Sanders, James W; Schneider, Peter; Sellers, Wiley B; Smith, Zachariah; and Williams, Nathaniel.
Spanish-American War veterans are: Chilcutt, John E; Cochran, Wm O; Davis, Arthur; Davis, W E; Easley, Wm T; French, Edwin P; Hagen, Henry H; McBride, James D; McCool, Harry; Music, J W; Nisbeth, John A; Schneider, Peter; Stewart, Frank T; and Witten, E B.
The museum's goal is to dedicate this memorial on Veterans' Day of 2005, so please help support this county-wide project. The Memorial will be placed outside the fence, so that it is accessible to the public at all times.
