The TOCQ Middle School Academic Meet was held at Hooker last Saturday. We had many students from our school win in different categories. Brody Hinds won first place in Current Events and Social Studies, Marco Valencia received fifth in Current Events and Humanities and eighth in Social Studies. Jake Hitchings placed eleventh in Social Studies. Tanesha Cayton won tenth in Math, and fourteenth in Language Arts. The group won first in conduct according to Mr. Gleave. We're very proud of these students!!
Last week was Red Ribbon week here at Keyes. This is a program that was developed to create an awareness of drugs and their dangers. To start it off, we had a costume contest on Monday. They were judged on who could be the funniest, scariest, craziest, and best over all. The winners for Scariest: Raydin Townsley, Tanner Woods, Juston Balenseifen, Luis Valencia, and Nico Collins. Winners for Originality: Jonah Sparks , Tristen Williams, Danci Meister, Tanesha Cayton, James Taylor, and Morgan Grazier. The Funniest were: Jamilett Villa, Darci Williams, Kodi Townsley, Tiffany Hicks, and Tacie Cayton. The best decorated pumpkin winners for Pre-K and K were: third place Torie Cayton, second place -Raydin Townsley, and first place - Mesa Compton. The winners for First and Second grades were: third place -Tierra Alvarez, second place- Phillip Martinez, and first place- Tristian Williams. The winners for Third and Fourth were; third place- Austin Charles, second -Juston Balenseifen, first-Cassandra Valencia . The winners for Fifth and -Sixth were: third-Kody Durham , second -Baily Gardner , first-Taylor Jones. There was also a parade downtown and class parties afterward. Tuesday was Red and White Day, FCCLA recruiting day, and the annual door decorating contest. Outstanding door decorators were: third-Eighth Graders, second-Freshman, first-Juniors. On Wednesday we dressed for success and we watched out for the grim reaper (Nico Collins) on Thursday. Friday we dressed like your favorite sports team, many had our famous Titan T-shirts. Monday we were learning while relaxing in our pajamas. We had a fun week thanks to Mrs. Cayton and the FCCLA Club.
FCCLA District competitive events were Wednesday at Guymon from 8:30-1:00 . Congratulations to these winners: Katie Cryer-2 nd in New Member Fact Test Jr. Division, William Spell-1st in New Member Fact Test Sr. Division, Shayla Gleave-1st in Creed Speaking & Interp. Jr. Division, Tiawna Cayton & Haley Robinson-1st in Illustrated Talk Jr. Division.
The last football game for the season was on Friday at Balko, they did very well and should have won the game. The team has done great this season and we are very proud of them and their efforts. We want to recognize our dedicated team, they are: Raymond Hinds, Rance Barnes, Logan Grazier, Brandon Durham, Nathan Conner, Nico Collins, Elliot Fry, Coach Ty Hussey and Coach Bob Cochran. Thanks guys, we enjoy cheering for you!!
On Tuesday, the 8th, the Juniors had a brisket dinner accompanied by a Shoot-a-Thon, and 4-H's Share the Fun. Also, the boys and girls basketball teams will be going to Boise City for a scrimmage at 4:00 on Friday, the 11th. Also, on the 12 th , the academic team will go to Yarbrough for the OSSAA Regional meet at 9:00 . We wish them the best of luck!
