Yarbrough's Reading Scores Recognized by State Yarbrough Elementary School was recently announced as one of the top Reading First schools in the state of Oklahoma . According to Alisa Dorman, Oklahoma State Reading First Director, end-of-year outcome results from DIBELS testing taken last spring show Yarbrough Elementary School ranks 4 th out of the Reading First schools in Cohort 1 with 81% of their students in grades K-3 achieving benchmark. In comparison, the top school from Cohort 1 had 84% of their students achieve benchmark. Cohort 1 is comprised of 43 districts with over 70 schools. During the September meetings for the Reading First Schools in Oklahoma , Yarbrough's yearly improvement and gains in DIBELS testing was used as the model for other schools to see the yearly improvement expected from Reading First Schools. Yarbrough Elementary is in its fourth year as a Reading First school. State goals were also met on the Reading First ITBS testing. The Reading First coach is Dianne Williams. The rest of the Reading First team is comprised of the K-3 teachers as follows: Sheila Buhr, Derenda Aranda, Kim Neal, Earl Chiddix, Kindergarten aide Mary Forinash, Terry Mulbery, Yarbrough School Principal, and Jim Wiggin, Superintendent.
