This week beware. What your about to read will be haunting.
A man named Oleg came from Moldova to our town to inform us on his ministry to the youth of his country. In case you are like me and don't know where Moldova is, it is a small country between Romania and Ukraine close to Russia . It is the poorest country in Europe and has a very high human trafficking rate.
People even kidnap kids and then cut off their arms and legs to put them in Moscow to beg. Also 90% of the Moldova girls going to Turkey have been forced into prostitution after being told they are getting high paying jobs. They also take children off the streets for donor organs. Oleg and his friends have a place for the street children to go for a warm meal and clothes and to be safe from the people who try to steal them.
There is this blind man with eight kids who only gets seven dollars per month assistance from the government. What can you do with eight kids and seven dollars???? The answer is nothing. It is awful the way they have to live. I get seven dollars a week for allowance. And if he could fully see, his family could not get assistance but if he were only missing one eye they would get four dollars. That's bad that's really bad. My family couldn't live on seven dollars a day let alone a month. Could you last on seven dollars a day, a week, or even a month??
People often freeze to death because their houses are not insulated and they rarely have electricity for electric blankets. Their main source of heat is wood. Oleg and his friends deliver wood to people in need like the blind man's family.
Life in Moldova is so bad I'm glad we live here and hope our lives stay this nice. I am glad to have met Oleg and know that there are people in the world who love God and want to help make a difference in other people's lives.
